So the household drama just doesn't seem to end. We haven't even finished unpacking and already there are roommate issues.
So in the meantime...
I was a part of a discussion on the Pinnacle forums regarding a crew I was designing for a potential Con one shot. During the critique, some one mentioned that there were skills assigned to the pregens that were unlikely to come up during the game.
It struck a sore spot in me, and that is the idea of making characters who are not people but tools to deal with specific situations. I've never run a con game one shot before and I can see his point, but it seems to me that there is no reason to build a character with that mentality. You might as well just list the "class" of the character and assign a skill level for it.
Anyway, it gave me the idea for some rpg demotivational posters. Here ya go.

A Couple of Aliens
So I'm still in the process of moving. My wife has a lot of stuff.
I haven't abandoned anyone or anything, and for your patience I thought I'd just leave these here. Use them as you see fit.

Caged Birds [Rant]
My apologies for not posting recently. Due to economic downturns my wife and I can no longer stay at our current place and have to move. Let's just say that there is a lot of drama going on. It may be a month before I post anything for Savage Worlds.
Let me leave you with this thought though. Caged birds bother me. Someone staying with us has them and I was tasked with feeding them while this person was away. One day I found one of the little birds dead in the food dish and it made me very angry.
Birds were given the gift of flight. No part of their habitat is akin to living in a cage, yet we stupid humans lock them up. Why? Because they are pretty? Buy some binoculars then or go to the wild animal park. It is just so selfish to shut up a creature like that and condemn it to a life and death without being able to fly.
Anyway, I know it isn't Savage Worlds related but I needed to vent.

More Sci-Fi Gear
For those not interested in the cards, here is the planned write up I did for Daring Tales. There is a few items listed that I didn't get around to modeling before I lost the majority of my free time. Anyway it's a useful little pamphlet if you are planning on a homebrew sci-fi game.
Cheers.
Future Tech
By the way, feel free to leave a comment. I see a lot of hit and runs but I'm not getting much feedback about the site.
PPS> I noticed some really bad editing in my pdf so I updated it.

You want GM Tools?
Everyone gets a dry spell every now and then. Sometimes you just need something to spark your brain and get the engine to hum.
I've tried a lot of Generic Adventure Creators and few actually helped. I created this one based on a couple of the more successful tools I had used and it works well for me. This a connect-the-dots type of tool that gives you the dots.
Enjoy!

Savage Sunday! - Character Sheets
So today's update will be some homebrew character sheets I have made.
Landscape character sheets are my favorite. IMHO it makes it easier to cram in all of the things needed on the character sheet.

Unoffically Official!
Super Sneaky Saturday Update!
Some time ago I was trying my hand at vehicle creation using the new Savage Worlds Deluxe, however I was having a hard time figuring out how they came up with all of their values. Well I did some digging and finally figured it all out.
I wrote it all up and planned to publish it as a Fan document, but I felt I should run it by the folks at Pinnacle since it did contain stuff from the Deluxe book. Not only did they like my write up, but they decided to give it the Savage treatment and host it on their downloads page!
Check it out here!
And did I mention it was FREE?
The document details how to convert existing vehicles to Savage Worlds as well as creating sci-fi vehicles that can operate side by side or against modern vehicles (if you are planning to have an alien invasion or something).
Allons-y!
BTW - I've altered the site so that you don't have to register to leave comments. Let me know what you think of the site!

Sunday Updates! - Sci-Fi Gear Cards
So it looks like I'll be updating on Sundays since that is about the only time I have available. However, there will be no updates next Sunday as I will be Larping around Norwescon here in Seattle.
Today's update involves some sci-fi equipment cards I was doing free art for while I was unemployed. Original they were planned to be released by Paul Wiggy Wade-Williams as part of his Daring Tales of the Space Lanes. However now that I do have a job, I'm not able to deliver everything needed for it. He was a nice guy and let me out of the deal so I could release what I did have for free to all the little Savages out there.
Sci-Fi Gear Cards
They are compatible with other weapons inside the Savage World Deluxe book, in case you want some cross-tech level action (although it replaces their versions of futuristic weapons). Enjoy.

How do I work this doohickey? - NPC Cards
So I figured I would start off my blog with some freebies that might keep you coming back for more (I know you really aren't interested in me). Now I just need to figure out how to post downloadables...
First off, here are some NPC cards for Savage Worlds. They are 3x5 in case you are wondering.
I print them out on cardstock and slice them up over at my local Kinkos. That way I can build up a library of my own critters for a campaign and keep them in a index card folio. Then I can just pull them out and use them as I need them. Plus it's nice to have a few blanks around when I get a great idea for a critter or a new villain.

Greetings to all humanoids...
...and unnatural critters from beyond the realm of the Antilles Maelstrom. This is my first foray into the blogosphere and I'm hoping it will be a pleasant one.
Who am I?
My online presence is Vinzent and I generally haunt RPG.net as well as the Savage Worlds forums over at Pinnacle. Roleplaying games are my chief hobby, along with computer art for video games which is how I make my living currently. However for the past few years I've been using my computer skills to make some content for Savage Worlds as fan documents, character sheets, and occasionally art.
So what is this Blog about?
Well I thought it would be a neat idea to lump all of my rpg work into one blog so that others can find it. I'll have updates on things for use with Savage Worlds and occasionally Star Wars Saga and Pathfinder (the other games I am involved in). All also be shooting the breeze about the random thoughts running through my head as well as fun stories involving my current campaigns. So mostly this will be about role playing games unless I have a very bad day, then I might stray a bit off topic. Every now and then I may post a comic when the bug hits me.
What is "A Yelp in the Dark?"
It used to be the name of a webcomic I posted about the ill-fated Asheron's Call 2 mmorpg. Unfortunately my enthusiasm for the game died out and so did the comic. However the title has stuck with me.
